Bailén-Miraflores is a residential neighbourhood south of Málaga’s centre, best known for the Mercado de Bailén (Plaza de Bailén, 8), one of the city’s largest municipal markets, running since 1964. The Bailén Market

The Bailén Market has served the La Trinidad and Bailén-Miraflores neighbourhoods since it opened in 1964. You’ll find fresh fish and seafood, traditional butchers and delicatessens, seasonal fruit and vegetables, cheeses and spices, and small bars and cafés for breakfast. It’s open Monday to Saturday, 8:00–15:00, and closed on Sundays. Rated 4.8/5, it’s a more authentic option than the Atarazanas market, and mainly frequented by locals.

Getting to the centre

The urban bus (EMT) is the most common and direct option. A single ticket currently costs €1.40, though Málaga City Council has approved a rise to €1.50 during 2026 — worth checking the current fare before you travel.
